Buying perfume online – avoid fakes and choose carefully!
Perfume derives from the Latin “per fumum“, meaning through smoke. Perfumes were made as far back as in ancient Mesopotamia and Egypt but the art of perfumery was became more sophisticated under the Romans and Persians.
Perfume or and after shave is a timeless gift and always well received. Even better, it’s almost like a gift to yourself if you choose a fragrance that you love, as well as your partner. Needless to say, there is a world of perfume to choose from. I would recommend sticking with the classic established brands like Calvin Klein, Estee Lauder, Hugo Boss etc. unless you know that your better half has a particular favourite in mind. Both Men and women can become very attached to a particular perfume or after shave, and identify with it rather like they might stick to a style of clothing – so be careful about choosing something radically different to their favourite because they might simply fail to identify with it, or think that you are challenging their tastes.
Be careful about buying perfume online – make sure you choose a reputable perfume supplier like Perfume Point (see below) because there is a huge market in fake perfumes. In fact, it’s one of the products that has been sold as fake way back before the internet took off – and fake perfume sellers claiming to have “a few bottles at a bargain price” was a regular sight on Oxford Street until trading standards started to get on top of things.
Be very careful about ebay sellers as well, and make sure you check their feedback to ensure that other people haven’t complained about the authenticity of the fragrances.
